These are the reference documents for creating characters to play within Ezrahn – Realm of Aether. All linked Subclasses, Backgrounds, and Species/Races are created in DnDBeyond and shared within campaigns for creation prior to Session 0. The order of steps is done to coincide with DnDBeyond’s process to be as easy to follow and streamlined as possible.
- Choose your Class. Use any of the standard classes from the 2014 or 2024 rulebook or one of the Ezrahn specific classes linked below. Create at Level 1 unless directed otherwise by your DM.
Base Classes are – Barbarian, Bard, Cleric, Druid, Fighter, Monk, Paladin, Ranger, Rogue, Sorcerer, Warlock, or Wizard.
Ezrahn Classes include – Alchemist, Arcane Marksmith, Hedge Witch - Choose your Background. While you are welcome to use the Standard 2014 or 2024 Backgrounds, There are a specific list of Ezrahn Backgrounds with modifications under the “Homebrew” category in the Character Creation.
- Choose Your Species/Race. Only the included races are available in Ezrahn and must be chosen from the “Homebrew” section of Character Creation, otherwise you don’t have the same setup as others who choose from this list.
- Ability Scores. This is done with a 4d6, drop the lowest 6 times method. If your roll includes more than one 1, then you may reroll those 1s, but then must keep what they come up as. For example, if you roll 6, 2, 1, 1 – you would reroll the 1s, but if they both come back as 1s again, you keep them, giving you a total of 9 (6+2+1, drop the other 1).
- Equipment. Use your remaining gold to purchase any other items you wish from the Player’s Handbook of standard equipment.
- Finally, get your Aether Bonus. This is what sets you apart from the commoners of Ezrahn. The Aether has been attracted to you for some reason and granted you power making you special among the denizens of the realm.
